An April Affair
I'm gonna bring my friends here in April. This is truly one of my favorite spots near Cagayan de Oro. Being inside the monastery is an exhilirating experience.

I heard Dom Martin will be coming out with a book covering all the dishes served at “Brunch with the Monks”.  I will be looking forward to this.  I loved the food that they served during my 2-day stay at the New Guest House plus the Monk's Blend Coffee and the Piniato!

I have attended a 2-day retreat last April 1 and 2, 2010 at the Monastery of the Transfiguration and it was such a wonderful experience for me. I came with my two children and friends. I have learned so much from the retreat with Fr. Elias and Dom Martin as speakers. I have also met Sister Maribel Ortega, OSB and she was really nice to us. I would really want to go back to the monastery for another retreat next year.

I'm Von M.Nery from Lanao del Norte.I am a paraplegic patient.I had paralysis on both lower extremeties sustanied after i had my surgical operation-"Repair of Coarctation of the Aorta with Goretex Graft Interposition" @ UST Hospital,Manila last April 8,2002.I was diagnosed as "Spinal Cord Injury,Incomplete Paraplegia,Thoracic 12 level".I was a victim of medical malpractice for more than 7 years which landed me into a wheelchair right now.

PLEASE join me in my daily prayer for my total healing & complete recovery may arrive on me.Please inlcude me in your daily prayers & masses.I am continously hoping & praying for the best to come.I'm just patienlty waiting for his time,his will and not mine.I know God will take care of me.He himself has said..."I will not in any way fail you,nor give you up,nor leave you without support."(Hebrews 13:5)

I already lost my nursing job.I've lost the opportunity in working abroad.I've lost my dreams & ambitions in helping my family.I've lost my nursing career due to my physical disability right now.

Shadows from my Past

I am Blessed for being able to visit the sacred monastery a second time with my family. My wife Cindy and son Mizo were very much impressed with its solitude and warmth of the Benedictines specially when we were entertained by Fr. Columbano.

Fr. Columbano and the aura of the monastery all reminds me of my strict, religious and reflective upbringing when I studied in San Beda Mendiola (GS-HS). The uncompromising Rule of the Benedictines plus the surrounding solitude brings back old memories and feelings of God, Worship, deep Prayer and serious Work (Ora et Labora). Try praying in the chapels of both Malaybalay and Mediola, the feeling of being an inch away from God is felt with solemn prayer.

 I even told father that meeting him again after a few decades and having the honor to crush the hand of my son Mizo until he kneels is a flashback of fresh childhood memory.

I congratulate the Benedictines of the Monastery of Transfiguration for building a new legacy in Bukidnon. This includes the Monk's Blend coffee which I am starting to enjoy drinking everyday. Not to mention the delicious peanut butter!

Hope to visit the monastery again in the near future.
